Police appeal for information on five Crewe men following serious city assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Liverpool have issued CCTV images of five men believed to have been visiting the city from the Crewe area.

The incident happened on Mathew Street, Liverpool on Saturday (11 June).

Merseyside Police officers would like to speak to the five men from the Crewe area on the CCTV footage - in connection with their enquiries.

At around 6.25pm, emergency services were called to Hardy's Bar, Mathew Street.

A man was found unconscious after being seriously assaulted.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police are asking anyone who recognises the gang from Crewe to come forward to assist enquiries.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This was a nasty attack which left a man seriously injured and we are working hard to find the person responsible.

Merseyside Police see the incident as a nasty attack and are continuing to investigate (Liverpool Police).

"The bars and restaurants in our city centre should be safe spaces for us all to enjoy and we simply will not tolerate such violence on our streets.

"If you recognise any of the men pictured then please let us know, as they may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.

"Similarly, if you were out in Hardy's Bar or in the Mathew Street area on Saturday night and saw anything suspicious then please come forward.

"Whether you tell us directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon."

Crewe Nub News contacted Cheshire Police for comment on the incident.

Merseysdie Police are conducting the entire investigation (Liverpool Police).

A spokesperson said: "As this relates to an incident that occurred in Merseyside, you'll need to correct Merseyside Police."
