The Railway Benefit Fund (RBF), is a UK charity solely dedicated to supporting current, retired and former railway employees and their families through tough times.

It was founded in 1858 and has supporting the rail industry for over 160 years.

RBF is based at Millennium House, Nantwich Road - close to Crewe Railway Station.

All guests on the classic train experience were treated to a luxury day of fine dining.

There were some of the RBF's Heart of Gold winners, including the Arriva Rail London, Hatch End Station Team and staff from Avanti West Coast and Southeastern.

The awards celebrate the hard work of those in the rail industry, recognising those who have gone above and beyond to help their communities, passengers and colleagues.

A number of RBF ambassadors were also treated to a day out - as a thank you for their hard work.

This included volunteering, spreading awareness of the work of the charity and signposting their colleagues in need.

CEO of RBF, Claire Houghton told Nub News: "We were absolutely delighted to have raised over £60,000.

"Our thanks go to Locomotive Services Limited and Saphos Trains for making this wonderful event happen - as well as the Branch Line Society for hosting the ticketing."

All proceeds from The Royal Charter will go towards supporting current, former and retired railway workers (RBF).

The classic steam experience was the Crewe charities flagship fundraising event.

It was well attended by a number of notable names from within the rail industry.

This included Abellio Ancillary Services, Caledonian Sleeper, Furrer + Frey, Freightliner and Avanti West Coast.

There was also Arriva TrainCare and Health Shield RBF's president, Pete Waterman OBE.

Passegers are reminded that they can own a permanent reminder of the day by bidding for The Royal Charter headboard.

This is being carried out by Britannia in a Royal Railway Auction – it finishes at 7pm on Friday (June 17).

Passengers Paul and Isla. Paul proposed on the classic train experience and Isla said yes (RBF).

All proceeds from The Royal Charter will go towards supporting current, former and retired railway workers.

Money raised will also go to their families who have fallen on hard times.
