POLICE are investigating an arson attack which left a motorbike destroyed in Audley Street this morning.

The bike was set alight on open land and was doused by firefighters from Crewe Fire Station who arrived at the scene at 2.45am and spent half an hour tackling the blaze.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters extinguished the fire, which left the motorbike destroyed, with a hose reel jet and made sure it was safe.

"They then handed the incident over to the police. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately."

Cheshire Police are appealing for anyone who has information about the fire to either ring 101, quoting IML 790525, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or they can also give details via the web link.
