Plans submitted to convert former Crewe town centre café into new restaurant
Plans have been submitted to convert a former Crewe town centre café into a new Kurdish restaurant - three years after it closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday 21 March, Mr Nawzad Rahim, applied for a change of use from the former Grazziella's café, Market Street, into a new Kurdish restaurant.
The new Crewe Kurdish restaurant would be located on the ground floor - like the former breakfast and lunch eatery.
Grazziella's was a popular place to go to in Crewe town centre for many years.
Customers often visited to enjoy a hot drink, omelette, breakfast and sandwich.
The former eatery opened last century but fell into hard times during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and never reopened.
Grazziella's was sold at auction under Butters John Bee on 21 November last year.
Kurdish food is typical of Western Asian cuisine - largely based on meat and rice.
Likely menu items include kebabs, vegetable dishes, pasta, pastries, rice dishes, dairy products, bread and soups.
The new restaurant plans to have several tables for a seating area, as well as a new counter, two display units, a toilet and a kitchen preparation area.
It also proposes elevations to the front, side and rear of the Market Street business.
The last date for submitting comments on the application is Friday 14 April with a target decision date of Tuesday 16 May.
