Plans to convert 'neglected' Crewe town centre building into flats

Plans have been submitted to convert old "dilapidated" Crewe town centre offices into new flats.
This March, applicant, Mr. Farman, proposed a change of use from offices to four self-contained flats with internal alterations at 3 Chester Street.
Located above Kurdish Restaurant, the applicant wants to convert the first floor and second floor into residential, with two apartments on each floor.

Changes to the front facade the property will be kept to a "minimum," with all windows retaining their size, character and positioning.
External bin store areas will be located at the side of the property. Resident access will be located on Chester Street.
A design and access statement reads: "The proposal aims to bring necessary use and life to an essential building in the centre of Crewe that has sadly been neglected and currently remains vacant.
"3 Chester Street consists of a three-storey building with commercial units on the ground floor and offices on the first and second floors.
"It sits in the heart of Crewe town centre with access from Chester Street and Market Street. It is currently dilapidated and neglected and is in need of a desperate renovation.
"The site has access from Market Street, Chester Street and rear access off Chester Street.
"The proposal is to convert the existing building into four apartments in the storeys above. The new changes will be internal layout change to accommodate four apartments.
"As 3 Chester Street is located in the heart of the town centre there is ample space for parking around the site in the nearest car parks.
"The proposed development will not be visually detrimental to the existing character or appearance of the street scene or surrounding area.
"A careful choice of materials will be used to match existing buildings as closely as possible and changes to the existing building will be kept to a minimum."
The last date for submitting comments on this application is Monday 14 April with a target decision date of Monday 5 May.
