Grosvenor Medical Centre, Grosvenor Street and Hungerford Medical Centre, School Crescent, will both be expanded following approval from Cheshire East Council (Ryan Parker).

Plans have been given the green light to expand two busy medical centres in Crewe, offering more consultation rooms at each.

Hungerford Medical Centre, School Crescent, and Grosvenor Medical Centre, Grosvenor Street, will both be expanded following approval from Cheshire East Council.

Both sites, currently struggling with demand, will have two new consultation rooms following extensions.

At Grosvenor Street, the centre will undergo a first floor extension, forming two new administration offices and a telephone consulting room.

Hungerford Medical Centre, School Crescent, will be expanded to have two more consultation rooms (HMC).

The two new consulting rooms will be constructed alongside a new reception space at ground floor, within the existing building.

This will bring the total number of consultation rooms to 12, with a 33-seater waiting room on the ground floor.

Hungerford Road, rated 'Good' by the CQC in November 2023, is made up of a team of eight GPs (including five GP partners) as well as GP registrars.

The practise was rated good for being safe. effective, caring and well-led, but did require improvement for responsiveness.

The Crewe East facilities' expansion will bring the total number to 18, aiming to improve this.

Former office space is set to be converted into a treatment room, with the single storey extension also making this space bigger.

A Cheshire East planning officer was satisfied with the Grosvenor and Hungerford Medical Centre plans, considering them "acceptable,," complying with the Development Plan and the National Planning Policy Framework.
