Cheshire East planners are recommending councillors give the go-ahead for a 55-home scheme - located on the edge of Crewe.

The principle of development has already been established on the site because an inspector allowed it at appeal, after Cheshire East had originally refused permission.

Members of the council's southern planning committee will be considering the reserved matters application next Wednesday (November 30), which relates to the layout, scale, appearance and landscaping.

The application has been 'called-in' to the committee by Haslington councillor Steve Edgar (Conservative), who has raised numerous concerns.

These include the affordable housing is not pepper-potted and is concentrated away from the larger properties; the affordable homes have fewer bedrooms; inadequate over-all parking provision and claims the site is over-developed.

Haslington Parish Council has also listed numerous objections.

These include Winterley has no facilities and is not an appropriate location for new housing; concerns over drainage issues; the bedroom distribution is not spread around the development and the need for connectivity to the Duchy Estate.

Objections have also been sent to the council from 11 local residents.

The council's planning officer states, in a report due to go to next week's meeting, that the design, scale, layout, appearance and landscaping are all deemed to be acceptable.

"In addition, the proposals are not deemed to create any concerns in relation to amenity, ecology, landscape or flood risk, highway safety, subject to updated conditions where necessary," states the officer.

The application will be considered at Crewe Municipal Buildings on Wednesday - November 30 (Ryan Parker).
