The government signed off the Crewe 'pocket parks' and 'history centre public realm' projects on Tuesday - August 30 (Ryan Parker).

The Crewe and Nantwich MP has given his opinion on two Crewe development projects being approved by the government this week - as part of the 22.9 million towns fund bid.

On Tuesday (August 30), the government signed off the Crewe 'pocket parks' and 'history centre public realm' projects.

Dr Kieran Mullan, MP for Crewe, has expressed his delight at this news - believing the town is finally getting the investment and 'levelling up' it needs.

A new public space will be created around the site of the former library (Ryan Parker).

Crewe Town Board is overseeing work to receive up to £22.9m in funding from the government's Towns Fund and plans for a package of 10 projects that will support Crewe's ongoing regeneration.

Following Tuesday's news, four Crewe projects have now sealed government approval.

Here's what the Dr Kieran Mullan MP told Nub News (September 1):

Crewe and Nantwich MP, Dr Kieran Mullan (Centre), believes Crewe is finally starting to be levelled up (Crewe Nub News).

"It is great to see the Crewe Town Deal progressing, I know how much people want to see progress in Crewe.

"I campaigned hard for us to get a Town Deal because I knew what a difference it would make.

"This £22.9 million comes on top of the £14 million for Future High Streets, the £5 million for Cheshire College, the £15 million for a new A&E at Leighton.

"When people ask what does Levelling Up stand for, it is for projects and money like this which our area is getting.

The new Crewe History Centre development projects awaits approval this winter (Crewe Town Board).

"Delivering this projects with inflation and construction material shortages won't be easy, but we will get there and I hope residents notice the difference."

"I know how well used these pocket parks are and we can make sure they are up to scratch and improved with this cash.

"The new MUGA I worked with The Wishing Well on was something aimed at addressing the fact there isn't stuff for young people to do in the town centre."

"I worked on the idea for us to secure an Ice Cream Van for Cheshire College as part of its catering studies because I think as a town we need to do more to showcase and show off this part of our heritage more."

Funding has been approved for the improvements of eight pocket parks and a new MUGA in Crewe (Crewe Town Board).

As part of the Crewe pocket parks project, local charity The Wishing Well, is proposing to deliver a multi-use games area (MUGA) near to Jubilee Gardens in Hightown.

Back in June, the government also approved the Flag Lane Baths Community Hub and the Crewe Youth Zone projects.
