New South Indian pub and restaurant launches in 'heart' of Crewe town centre
A new South Indian pub and restaurant has opened in the heart of Crewe town centre, relocating and expanding from its popular takeaway unit in the town.
Kerala Peppery, Earle Street, soft launched on Wednesday 11 December, taking on the former Crown pub.
Operated by, Mrs Jhoti Prakash, Kerala Peppery first opened on Meredith Street in May, quickly becoming a hit with residents.
Supported by partner Sobin (Taco Bell Crewe manager), the business is named after the state of Kerala in South India, a tourist destination on the tropical Malabar coast.
Sobin told Nub News: "We received a very good response from our Kerala Peppery takeaway on Meredith Street. We always wanted to open a restaurant but needed to test the waters in Crewe first.
"It was great to find somewhere in the heart of the town centre, taking on the Crown pub.
"At Kerala Peppery now, we are a South Indian pub and restaurant and have had a very successful soft launch.
"We are currently trialling ourselves here and plan a 2025 grand opening with a new party hall and potential club space, which we plan to refurbish in January.
"There are around 70 new food menu varieties, expanding from the takeaway menu. We also serve a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails, cocktail shots and mocktails.
"We also serve a range of wines, spirits and beers, including South Indian Malayali lager in both 4.8 per cent and 7.2 per cent varieties which is really good.
"Most of our beer selection is selling well. Our four varieties of cocktail shots are also really popular."
Kerala Peppery serves "fresh," authentic South Indian dishes, including curries, bbq and tandoori specials, breads, Shawarma, Arabic Mandy and biryani.
Expanding its previous takeaway menu, the Earle Street venue also serves soups, starters, desserts and Indo-Chinese dishes.
Sobin said: "Kerala Peppery offers so many exclusive dining items in Crewe. It is so much better serving our fresh food in a restaurant as opposed to a takeaway.
"We are still very popular on the likes of Deliveroo and Uber Eats for takeaways but now we offer a proper dining experience too.
"In our kitchen, we have a new grill which gives an even better taste than before for our food. Our Into-Chinese items have been one of the most popular.
"This blends both cuisines together and nowhere else in Crewe offers this. There is so much flavour and spice and people keep coming back for it.
"There are also some new fresh desserts and blended fresh fruit juice with no added flavours or ingredients.
"We believe it is an impressive menu at Kerala Peppery and can't wait for more people to come and try it."
Kerala Peppery is open 12pm to 12am (Friday to Sunday) and 12pm to 10pm (Monday to Thursday). Food is served until 10pm everyday.
