New 'authentic' South Indian grocery shop opens in West End of Crewe

A New South Indian grocery shop has launched in the West End of Crewe, taking on the former Jeed Store in a "very bad state" for years.
Mary Matha South Indian Store Ltd, West Street, officially opened at 7am on Thursday 7 November.
Owned by Mr Ani Francis Thottupuram, originally from Ernakulam, India, who lives in Leighton, the business has had a "positive start."
Mary Matha South Indian Store Ltd sells close to 500 South Indian items, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen dishes and seafood.
Ani told Nub News: "This shops sells a huge variety of authentic South Indian food you cannot get anywhere else in Crewe.
"There are a few Indian grocery shops like this in Crewe, but sell only a few authentic items.
"Mary Matha South Indian Store has so much more, with nearly 500 items available for our customers.
"Here, we sell the best selection of Indian grocery items in town and fresh fruit and vegetables.
"There are also lots of delicious Indian frozen dishes, including starters, mains and desserts. We have a lot of frozen seafood too."
"This building was in a very bad state when I took it on. In two and a half months I get this shop open and continue to work on upstairs.
"We have had a positive start. I encourage everyone to come and try items from this shop.
"Whether you are from India, Crewe or elsewhere, there is so much quality food to try and enjoy."
Mary Matha South Indian Store Ltd is open 7am to 9pm (Monday to Saturday) and 7am to 7pm (Sunday).
