Plans have been submitted for nine new family homes, located on a brownfield site in Crewe.

The proposal is for three three-bedroom and six two-bed properties, comprising a mix of two and two-and-a-half-storeys, on land at 332 West Street.

The 0.12 hectare site is between the new predominantly three-storey residential development along Bessemer Way and St. Barnabas Parish Church Hall and car park.

The proposal is for three three-bedroom and six two-bed properties, comprising a mix of two and two-and-a-half-storeys (Ryan Parker).

The land previously housed a scout hut and small-scale workshops, although these were demolished around 10 years ago.

A design and access statement submitted by Origin3 Ltd on behalf of the applicant, reads "The dwellings will comprise private rear external amenity space, with two bike storage facilities located at the front and rear of the site for both residents and visitors."

"Due to the sustainable location of the site and significant options for non-car modes of travel, there is no parking provided on site."

The application site is within the settlement boundary of Crewe and close to a wide range of services and facilities including education and health as well as key local employers.

The planning document adds: "The proposals would make a valuable contribution towards meeting local housing needs by offering a mix of housing types at the more affordable end of the market.

"The proposed development would also deliver economic and social benefits as well as tidying up a visually prominent site on a main entry way into Crewe."

The proposed site plan for the new housing development off West Street (Cheshire East Planning).

The last date for submitting comments is Wednesday 17 January, with a target decision date of Tuesday 30 January.

The application is due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
