Crewe man arrested following 'superglue' and 'ammonia' attack on woman
A Crewe man has been arrested for an alleged chemical attack on a woman, after squirting superglue into her mouth and spraying her with a bottle of ammonia.
On Sunday 17 December, Cheshire Police received reports of a 'disturbance' on West Street.
In the early hours, officers were deployed to the scene, locating a group at a West End address.
After kicking off at police, a 20-year-old man was physically restrained and arrested on suspicion of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH).
A bottle of ammonia was recovered at the scene, as well as a snap bag of a class A drug.
Safeguarding referrals have been put in place for the woman involved.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "In the early hours of Sunday 17 December, we received reports of an ongoing disturbance at an address on West Street.
"Response patrol officers were deployed to the West End and located the group involved at the address.
"It was alleged a male had squirted superglue into a females mouth at the location. He then sprayed her with a bottle of ammonia.
"The male was arrested and had to be physically restrained due to kicking off with officers.
"The male, 20, from Crewe has been arrested on suspicion of a section 47 assault.
"A bottle of ammonia was recovered from the scene, as well as a snap bag of a class A drug.
"The investigation is ongoing by specialist officers, and safeguarding referrals have been put in place for the female."
