A new "feel-good" 1980s bar has launch in Crewe, aiming to offer "something totally different" for the town.

Retro 80s Bar, Pedley Street, officially launched at 7pm on Friday 18 August.

The new free house, run by couple, Ant and Hazel Sherratt and two friends, has replaced the former Crafty Beggar pub which recently closed.

Retro 80s Bar will only play music from 1980 to 1989, offering free jukebox plays and free pool, Monday to Friday (Ryan Parker).

"Six of us have been working on this project, non-stop, for the past four weeks. We have been running on adrenaline to get it open," said Ant.

Retro 80s Bar will only play music from 1980 to 1989, offering free jukebox plays and free pool, Monday to Friday.

Ant told Nub News: "Me and my wife had this pub two years ago as The Crafty Beggar, after leaving Last Orders [The Cheshire Inn} and it was busy before we left.

"We were driving past this pub six weeks ago when it had closed and thought this would be an ideal 80s bar as Crewe doesn't have one."

"Me, my wife and two friends [Aaron and Becky Martin], have all gone in together on this bar, it was a mutual decision to launch Retro 80s.

Retro 80s will have security on the doors at weekends, with the bar running football days every time Crewe Alex are playing at home (Ryan Parker).

"We believe this bar is what Crewe needs. It is something totally different for the town, which has taken a lot of hard work and money to get up and running."

Retro 80s will offer standard beers on draught, as well as bottled ciders and beers, cocktails, shots and bombs - all sold at "reasonable prices."

Ant said: "This bar is just purely 80s and nothing else. The jukebox will only play 80s music, which is on free play Monday to Friday.

"People will be able to come in and pick a song from the decade. Pool will also be free Monday to Friday.

"We will be running 80s karaoke on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, wanting everyone to just come and have a good time.

"Being a free house, we have been given good drink prices by the brewery, which we feel will be reasonable for everyone.

"We will run our football days every time Crewe Alex are at home, starting from the first weekend we are officially open."

Ant and Hazel Sherratt also currently run The Duke of Bridgwater, Wistaston Road, previously managing The Crown and Last orders (The Cheshire Inn).

Customers of Retro 80s will be able to pick an 80s song on the jukebox for free, Monday to Friday (Ryan Parker).

Ant added: "We will be back and two between Retro 80s and The Duke of Bridgewater with our manager there covering more hours from now on.

"80 music is so popular. You get a lot of people going to Liverpool and Manchester on the train on weekends and hope to pull some of them in.

"We just want to make this a feel-good place and have high hopes for it.

"We will serving all the standard beers. Draught beers will be £3 a pint across the board until 10pm.
