Plans have been submitted to use a field on the outskirts of Crewe as a new dog park.

Paws n Play Ltd has applied for permission to use the field on land adjacent to the Leather Suite Warehouse, off Middlewich Road, Minshull Vernon, as an exercise area for up to eight dogs.

A planning statement prepared by Fisher German on behalf of the applicant says: "The facility will allow dogs to be exercised securely off a lead, with no worry of any livestock.

"The field is particularly useful for those dogs undergoing training, or reactive dogs.

Paws n Play Ltd want to use the land as an exercise area for up to eight dogs (Cheshire East Planning).

"There is a proven need for a business like this in this location, especially to enable exercising and training of dogs to meet their individual needs.

"The area has a positive impact on the well-being and mental health of dog owners too, providing a countryside location and a safe place to exercise dogs."

The planning document says there would be no built development as part of the proposal and the area would continue to look like an agricultural field in the open countryside.

It says: "The fencing proposed is fully-stock proof agricultural fencing, therefore not impacting on the openness of the open countryside, or the landscape."

There is already an existing access to the site off Middlewich Road.

The proposed opening times are from 7am to 9pm in the summer and 7am to 6pm in winter.

Paws n Play Ltd want to open from 7am to 9pm in the summer and 7am to 6pm in winter (Google).

The application document reads: "The business seeks for the area to be hired privately for either one or half hourly slots for up to eight dogs."

At the time of writing there has been one objection to the proposal.

The objector argues there is no need for the development as there are many dog exercise fields within a very short drive.

The last date for submitting comments is Wednesday 3 April, with the application due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
