A large new Crewe town centre medical facility is set to open in 2024, with 'coming soon next year' signs placed around the site.

Cheshire Medical Centre (CMA), will be located inside 22A Market Street and 20 Market Street, after being approved by Cheshire East Council in August 2022.

The facility will cover general surgery, eye surgeries, orthopaedics, gynaecology, laparoscopy surgery, cosmetic surgery and breast surgery.

Cheshire Medical Centre will employ up to 70 people, also committing to NHS patients (Ryan Parker).

Cheshire Medical Centre will be employing up to 70 people, committing to NHS patients and reduce local waiting times.

20 Market Street will be used as a GP clinic, specifically covering women's health. A pain clinic will also be supported there.

Last year, Cheshire Medical Centre's Dr Patricia McWalter, told Cheshire East's southern planning committee: "The comments from a number of sources about this being merely a private medical facility gives the wrong impression.

"The facility will also treat NHS patients and help to reduce waiting times that have developed recently, particularly as a result of the Covid pandemic over the last two years.

"We are looking to invest in an area of the town where there is a large number of vacant units which, if left vacant, will continue to have a negative impact on the town.

Cheshire Medical Centre's approved application allows the construction of one additional storey to the Market Street buildings (Ryan Parker).

"The proposal on the other hand, will result in significant economic benefits with job creation as a result of this new centre."

The original application for the Market Street scheme proposed to add an extra three storeys to the two properties.

Cheshire Medical Centre's approved application allows the construction of one additional storey.
