New children's play area near Crewe opens with official launch at summer fete

A new children's play area near Crewe has opened to the public, with Weston Playing Field Trustees and local residents celebrating.
The Weston Playing Field, Mere Road, is officially up and running following a launch party and Summer Fete attended by residents and families from the local area on Sunday 18 May.
Swings, slide, climbing frame and adventure trail are included at the new facility, which was funded by a £23,325.92 grant from FCC Communities Foundation and a further donation from Weston and Crewe Green Parish Council.
John Chambers of Weston Playing Field Trustees, told Nub News: "This vital facility is going to make a real difference to those who use it, as well as the wider Weston and Crewe Green Parish community.

"We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without its support."
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business awarding grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Senior grant manager, Richard Smith, said "It is wonderful to see something we have funded open and ready to make such a difference to the community of Weston.
"FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities, and this is a great example of what can be achieved."
The Fete was successful in raising funds towards a new disabled access gate.
Weston trustees and residents are continuing to raise funds to reach the total needed on GoFundMe.
