A new cake shop with "variety" is opening in Crewe this weekend, expanding a local resident's popular home baking business.

Greenway Cakes, 1 Greenway, behind Crosskeys Fish and Chips, launches at 10am on Saturday 18 January.

Operated by Georgina Nixon, 24, from Haslington, Greenway Cakes is a rebrand of the 'Baked by G' home business, along with her former Northern Cake Co shop in Chorley, Lancashire.

Offering a walk-in counter and collection service, they independent business also specialises in custom-made cake orders for all celebrations.

Georgina told Nub News: "I have lived in Haslington my whole life and am so excited to launch Greenway Cakes.

"After getting the keys to this unit in September, I have completely changed it around with a new ceiling and remodelling.

"Baking is my passion. I became a home baker after studying at Reaseheath College.

"Here, there always be new flavours every week. Customers can expect a variety of brownies and blondies along with cookies and cupcakes.

"There will be different bake ranges for each season. With Valentine's Day coming up there will be plenty of options for that.

"Being so close to my home, I really hope Greenway Cakes takes off. I can't wait to meet new customers."
