A new 'ambitious' Crewe mixed martial arts gym has opened its doors - aiming to 'improve' the lives of people within the local area.

SBG Crewe Mixed Martial Arts and BJJ, 5 Marshfield Bank, officially launched at 10am on Monday 1 May - following months of works.

The new gym is joint-owned by Mr Shaun Hampton, 38, from Crewe and Mr Casey Jones, 43, from Nantwich.

"We couldn't be happier to launch in Crewe. This is the result of years of hard work and dedication. We're just getting started, said Mr Jones.

SBG is Crewe's first dedicated mixed martial arts gym and the town's highest level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu facility.

As well as the work from Mr Hampton and Mr Jones, SBG is run by several other assistant coaches.

Me Jones told Nub News: "We're un-ashamedly ambitious and we aim to make this gym great for everyone wanting to be involved. We really couldn't be more pleased and excited.

"Me and Shaun have dedicated our lives to martial arts and seen the positive impact it can have on people.

"The main aim of our gym as with every one of our facilities is to make good people dangerous to bad people.

Casey Jones (left), is a third-Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and one of the most highly decorated British competitors and coaches (Nub News).

"In doing so this will help to make a safer healthier community.

"It's important to build a good relationship with martial arts and violence.

"This can only be done through hard work, disciplined training and creating a healthy environment where people from all walks of life and all ages can train safely together."

Mr Hampton is a hometown boy and is Crewe's most successful professional MMA Fighter - having won several pro titles.

Mr Jones said: "We're creating an environment where everyone, from children to adults and older professionals, can enjoy a hobby.

"We want to make a gym community that is a part of the larger fitness community as a whole in Crewe.

"People should try us out because I can guarantee SBG can help improve their lives.

"It's a chance not only to learn martial arts from experts that have used them at the highest level but a chance to be part of a team.

"You will be surrounded by good people who are asking the best of themselves and wanting the same for you.

"Give us one year and you'll be surprised with what you can achieve."

Mr Hampton and Mr Jones have been teaching mixed martial arts classes for over two years locally - including Wolfpack Fitness in Nantwich.

Once the joint-owners had built a base of students large enough to expand, plans for a gym in Crewe came together quickly.

SBG's Marshfield Bank facility quickly opened thanks to the help of students and building firm, Rogers Renovations.

Mr Jones added: "Crewe already has a great culture of Fitness with great gyms, like Area 51 just across the road.

"It also has some other top martial arts schools - particularly in Thai boxing.

"We're the first dedicated MMA facility and the highest level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - so we offer something different.

"SBG is also part of Straight Blast Gym international which is one of the most famous and successful gyms on the planet.

"We have great connections which allow us access to many other great coaches, competitions and training camps.

"We are not looking to replace already existing businesses, we're looking to give people a motivation to go lift or run, because it will help your martial arts training."
