A new authentic African family eatery has opened close to Crewe Railway Station - receiving 'great feedback' since it opened within the town.

Fatu's Kitchen, Nantwich Road, officially opened on Monday (November 21) - replacing The Crewe Bakeshop.

The African eatery offers a variety of contemporary African street foods and an all day takeout breakfast.

Fatu's Kitchen is managed by Isha Tamba, her mum Fatu - as well as her brother and sister (Ryan Parker).

"I like Crewe and my mum really loves Crewe. She says the town is calm and is neither too small or too big," says business director, Isha Tamba.

Fatu's Kitchen is run by Miss Tamba, her mum Fatu - as well as her brother and sister.

The family originates from The Gambia, West Africa - where Fatu's Kitchen is inspired from.

Miss Tamba told Nub News: "My mum wanted to go back to work. I told her she should start selling food as she is amazing in the kitchen.

"Fatu started with an African food van. We would take it around to Crewe warehouses at night. I worked at AO and the management allowed this.

"We operated the van for three to four months there.

"One day, I went past here when I was walking to work and thought this would be a good spot for a shop.

"I wanted to expand my mum's business. I was soon told this shop was available to rent."

After growing up in Gambia, Miss Tamba moved to Italy and attended high school there.

The 25-year-old moved to Crewe age 17 to study English. She then studied further education at The University of Manchester.

Miss Tamba said: "My mum has lived in Crewe for 12 to 13 years.

"I have lived here for most of my adulthood and attended Cheshire College - South & West here before studying at university.

"Crewe is all I know in the UK really. The accessibility of the railway here makes it really easy.

"When I want to go to Manchester I can get there on the train in less than 40 minutes. It's great."

Miss Tamba is delighted with her family businesses' location within Crewe.

She believes it was the right decision to open Fatu's kitchen at the station end of Nantwich Road.

Miss Tamba said: "We're in a good location right next to the railway station and the football stadium.

"It's the perfect spot for a new business like ours. We are doing well - considering how recently we've opened.

"Once we get the business properly marketed on social media I am sure it will do even better."

So far, Fatu's Kitchen has received very favourable feedback from customers.

The business director added: "The feedback has been mainly great. We are constantly improving our time management.

"We are currently perfecting the way we operate and we are getting used to everything.

"We have taken all of the feedback in to improve. People have said all of the food is worth the wait."

"I am very excited to see how this business goes. It will take a little time to get everything settled."

Fatu's Kitchen is open 5:30am to 8:00pm (Monday to Thursday), 5:30am to 10:30pm (Friday) and 8:00am to 11:00pm (Saturday) (Ryan Parker).
