The Levelling Up Secretary has welcomed the approval of the first two Crewe Town Deal projects - believing progress is being made towards levelling up the UK.
Michael Gove MP is Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
The MP for Surrey Heath since 2005, met up with Crewe MP, Dr Kieran Mullan last week (June 17).
So far, the Government has approved business cases for the Flag Lane Baths Community Hub and Crewe Youth Zone projects.
Both town projects will receive funding later in the year.
Mr Gove said "I am passionate about delivering levelling up in communities like Crewe and it is great to see these two projects moving forward.
"They are the real tangible things that give meaning to levelling up and I know Kieran will continue to push the Government to keep moving forward with the Crewe Town Deal."
Crewe has been allocated up to £22.9m of funding to support the town's long-term economic growth.
It was announced in July 2021 as one of the UK towns to secure a 'Town Deal'.
This followed a successful bid to the government's Towns Fund in January 2021 - overseen by Crewe Town Board.
Dr Kieran Mullan MP added: "I campaigned hard for Crewe to get a Town Deal, because I knew what a big difference it would make and projects like this are what that looks like in the real world.
"We all know we need better facilities and things for young people to do in Crewe.
"The team at the boxing club do a phenomenal job and they deserve a facility that matches their ambitions for the young people they support.
"The Youth Zone is going to make sure our young people not just in Crewe but across the patch, can come and enjoy the kinds of activities we know help them get on in life, stay out of trouble and enjoy themselves."
Crewe Town Board is made up of a team of representatives from the community, public, private and voluntary sectors.
As well as the Town Fund bid, the board is helping to oversee the delivery of Crewe town centre's regeneration and a HS2 hub station.
