Meet the 27-year-old Crewe town ranger revving up nostalgia with launch of vehicle club

By day, Tom Coles is part of the town ranger service with Crewe Town Council but in his spare time, he's a big classic vehicle enthusiast.
The 27-year-old has launched Sandbach Classic Motor Club to share his love of all things classic and to provide a meeting point for other classic vehicle owners.
The town ranger in Crewe has restored a 1972 mini which he drives himself and is currently working on restoring a 1982 van with his grandfather, John Barron, a retired product engineer.
Tom said: "I've always loved classic cars and love driving my 1972 mini which I have restored but have always been a bit frustrated with the fact Sandbach doesn't have its own car club.
"The town's links with the transport industry Foden's and ERF are well-known along with the annual Sandbach Transport Festival but I've always had to travel to attend a car club.
"I thought it would be good to set one up and I'm hoping we can have a presence at shows like Sandbach Transport Festival."

Tom has set up a Facebook page here for the Sandbach Classic Motor Club and hopes also to launch at webpage for the club which meets on the first Monday of the month on The Commons in Sandbach.
"The club is in its very early stages but is already proving to be popular. We hope to attend rallies and other events in the future.
"We're just seeing where it goes at the moment but I was pleased with the number of people and vehicles who turned up to our first meeting. We're not just a car club - we want to see classic motorbikes and vans as well."
Vehicle enthusiasts from Nantwich, Crewe and Holmes Chapel attended the club's first meeting, driving a variety of cars.
Tom, who also owns a more up-to-date Mini, says he's always been interested in classic vehicles.
"I like the drive and feel of older vehicles," he said. "There's nothing like the smell of a classic car."
