DINERS will be able to sit down for a Happy Meal and Big Mac at McDonald's Dunwoody Way branch as it reopens its dining area tomorrow (Friday).
And by the weekend both Crewe's branches of the fast food chain should be open for eat-in meals with the restaurant in Macon Way expected to be ready to accommodate sit-down diners by Saturday.
The moves are part of McDonald's nationwide plans announced this week to open up fully after safety measures have been put in place and risk assessments carried out.
At Dunwoody Way, hours will be 11am to 10pm and a raft of Covid-19 safety measures will be in place.
It will be table service only with customers ordering via the 'My McDonald's' app. Diners will also be asked to leave their contact details, using their phone to scan a code, or visiting a dedicated webpage in line with government guidance.
Social distancing, hand sanitisers, contactless payment and extra screens in kitchens and service areas will greet diners when they return.
They may be inclined to take advantage of the Chancellor's "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme which McDonald's have signed up to. That offers half-price meals when eating in from Monday to Wednesday throughout August.
A McDonald's spokesman said: "Social distancing measures will be in place and to prevent congestion the restaurant will carefully manage the number of customers inside."
Both Crewe restaurants have been operating on a Drive Thru and takeaway basis previously.
