A Match of the Day star and an Arsenal legend are set to host a special evening at Crewe Alexandra Football Club - telling the story of their famous careers.

An evening with Danny Murphy and Perry Groves is live at Mornflake Stadium's Wrights Lounge on Thursday 23 March.

The event will involve storytelling from both Murphy and Groves on their careers and other experiences along the way.

Those attending the Danny Murphy and Perry Groves evening will be served a three course meal (Crewe Alex).

Former Alex academy product, Murphy, returns to Crewe after beginning his professional career at Gresty Road in 1993.

The England midfielder made nine caps for his country and signed for Liverpool from the Alex in 1997 - joining for an initial fee of £1.5 million.

Murphy went on to play for Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers.

Since retiring in 2013, the 45-year-old has been a regular analyst on BBC's Match of the Day.

Groves is most famous for his time with Arsenal - making over 200 appearances between 1986 and 1992.

The former left winger won the Football League First Division on two occasions - as well as the football League Cup during his time with the Gunners.

Now 57, Groves still has a large following from football fans and is excited to speak at the upcoming Crewe Alex event.

Crewe Alex are delighted Murphy and Groves have agreed to host the event this March.

A statement on Monday (February 27), read: "Those joining us can enjoy a delicious three-course meal and a full bar selection will be on offer."

When Murphy and Groves take a break, a comedian on the night will enter stage.
