A 38-year-old Crewe man has been charged with driving and drug offences (Cheshire Constabulary).

A 38-year-old man from Crewe has been charged with driving and drug offences - appearing in court less than 48 hours after he was arrested.

Matthew Hurst, of Badger Avenue, was detained by police on Grosvenor Street in Crewe during the bank holiday weekend.

This happened shortly after 11pm on Sunday 1 May.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of amphetamine, driving dangerously, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance and subsequently charged.

The Crewe man was detained on Grosvenor Street, Crewe just after 11pm on May 1 (Cheshire Constabulary).

Hurst was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Chester Magistrates Court today (May 3).

The charge relates to a man decamping from a vehicle that was pursued by police and the man was located by officers in a garden in Crewe.

This crime news comes just hours after Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that a cat had been shot dead on a housing estate in Crewe.

Cheshire Police are now appealing for information from the public on the cat death.
