Man charged with drink driving following lunchtime incident in Crewe

A local man has been charged with drink driving, following a lunchtime incident on a busy road in Crewe.

On Monday 8 July, Cheshire Police noticed a vehicle being driven erratically on Nantwich Road.

At 1pm, officers pulled the car over, requesting the driver to take a roadside breath test.

Richard Platt, 57, of Wrenbury, has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 6 August (Nub News).

Richard Platt, 57, of Wrenbury, failed the test and was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.

Platt has since been charged with drink driving. He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 6 August.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 1pm on Monday 8 July, police observed a vehicle driving on Nantwich Road in Crewe.

"Officers subsequently stopped the car and the driver was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

Richard Platt failed a roadside breath test on Monday 8 July (Cheshire Police).

"Richard Platt, 57, of Wrenbury, has since been charged with drink driving.

"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 6 August."
