Man assaulted in broad daylight while walking dog in Crewe

Cheshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted while walking his dog in Crewe - with two men quickly fleeing the scene.

The attack on Monday (September 19), happened on a public footpath connecting Parkers Road and Bradfield Road, Leighton - off Englefield Close.

Two men approached a local man walking his dog and spoke to him.

Two men assaulted the dog walker and immediately fled the scene (Alissa Cook-Gray).

They then assaulted him and immediately fled the scene.

The victim went home and dialled 999.

Crewe Police officers soon arrived at the scene and searched the area.

They were unable to locate the two men. An investigation is now underway.

Today (September 21), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News.

Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway (Cheshire Constabulary).

A spokesperson said: "At around 7.23pm on Monday (September 19), police were called following a report that a man was walking his dog on Englefield Close, Leighton when he was approached by two men.

"The two men spoke to the man before assaulting him.

"They then both fled the scene.

"Officers attended and made a search of the area but could not locate the men.

Crewe Police later arrived at the scene - unable to locate the two men. They have started an investigation (Google).

"Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway."
