Man arrested after claiming to have 'explosive' in Crewe house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a bomb hoax in Crewe, after a police helicopter was deployed to locate him in the town.
At 10.26pm on Thursday 4 September, a man called Cheshire Police to an address on Hungerford Road, claiming there were was an explosive in his house.
The man then fled the scene, with police using response officers and air support to track him down.

After searching the Crewe East house, officers determined the Crewe man's bomb claims were false.
The man was located and arrested close to Crewe Lifestyle Centre at 11.31pm. He remains in police custody.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 10.26pm on Thursday 4 September police were called an address on Hungerford Road by the occupant saying there was an explosive in his house.
"He then left the house and a search was made of the area with the assistance of air support.

"The house was searched and all was in order.
"The occupant, a 39-year-old local man, was located near the Lifestyle Centre and arrested on suspicion of a bomb hoax. He remains in custody."
