A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting three people, following an attack on a woman near a park in Crewe.

On Saturday 5 April, Cheshire Police were alerted to an incident on the Walthall Street/Wistaston Road section of Valley Park.

At 7.19pm, an 18-year-old woman was walking with a female friend from the Crewe park when she was reportedly attacked by a white male, of darker complexion, with an eastern European accent.

The two girls had walked by themselves from Valley Park alongside the brook, with their parents a short distance behind using a different path.

The parents were then alarmed by loud screams, rushing towards a nearby field, discovering the woman had been assaulted.

According to witnesses, the attacker appeared suddenly, grabbed the woman by the waist and neck, punched her in the mouth, and tried to drag her away while pulling her hair.

The man, around 5' 10" tall, of slim build and with short, thick black/brown hair, reportedly told the woman to go with him, but she fought back as her friend tried to help.

Family members intervened to stop the assault, including the woman's father, with the attacker reportedly refusing to let go.

This led to a physical struggle, during which, several people, including the woman's friend and an adult, sustained injuries.

On Tuesday 8 April, officers located the man, swiftly detaining and arresting him.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "We have arrested a 22-year-old man as part of enquiries into three people being assaulted."
