A major health food shop with a store in Crewe town centre has launched a concession at a supermarket in the town.

The British retailer is aiming to open a total of 50 new stores this year, including eight concessions in Tesco stores.

Retail team leader at Holland & Barrett, Reanne Johnson, said: "Single aisle? Maximum impact. Introducing our latest single aisle and self-checkout store at the fabulous Tesco Crewe."

"A small but powerful shop located in a single aisle of the Tesco delivering a powerhouse of wellness to everyone, meaning you can get more than you bargained for with your weekly shop.

"Big thank you to all involved in delivering another fantastic store."

This development comes after Holland & Barrett was refused permission to move into Crewe's former Bella Italia unit, Grand Junction Retail Park, in 2023.

The former restaurant chain's unit later became The Works (relocating from Victoria Street), but was not split into two as initially proposed.

Property and format director, Nick Gerrard, said last year: "There are some undeniable facts, we want Holland and Barrett to be accessible.

"We have only got 19 standalone sites on retail parks, because generally the size of boxes available to us are too big."

"However, there are partners in those retail parks, be that Tesco or Next or whoever, who actually have spare space and want to make their offer more interesting to the customers that shop with them.

"We are talking to potential partners and we'll see where it goes."
