Crewe town centre 'community' Post Office officially closes down
Crewe town centre's 'community' Post Office has officially closed down - with no new location officially agreed yet.
Crewe Town Post Office, Victoria Shopping Centre, closed at 12pm on Thursday 30 March.
The town centre's only Post Office shut down following a December announcement WHSmith was permanently closing.
Post Office's closure will only be temporary with a new venue close to being confirmed.
WHSmith will be closing at 5:30pm on Thursday.
The British stationery and book retailer has no plans of a town centre relocation.
Post Office confirmed its closure to Crewe Nub News on Thursday - apologising for 'any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.'
A Post Office spokesperson said: "The current operator for Crewe Town Post Office has made the difficult decision to close the store and the branch will close on Thursday 30 March at 5.30pm.
"We know how important a Post Office is to a community.
"The vacancy was advertised and we have an applicant who wants to operate Crewe Town Post Office.
"We are working hard to keep any temporary closure to a minimum time.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
"In the interim alternative branches include West Street and North Street."
Post Office says it will provide an update to Crewe Nub News on a new town centre franchise parter in April.
