Major Crewe road reopens 'ahead of schedule' with new development complete

A major Crewe road has reopened "ahead of schedule" with a new link road development complete, aiming to improve access to the town centre.
Flag Lane, from Bridle Road to Richard Moon Street, reopened on Thursday 3 August, after being closed since Monday 15 May.
The closure allowed the for construction of the 'Flag Lane Link' development, connecting Flag Lane with Harrison Drive, through a new road.
The works were part of a package of projects being supported by the government's Future High Streets Fund, following Cheshire East's successful bid for a total of £14.1m of funding.
The works have allowed Dunwoody Way, close to Eagle Bridge Medical Centre, to be linked to Delamere Street, via Flag Lane.
There has also been an upgrade to the current zebra crossing, in place on Flag Lane.
Flag Lane was due to reopen on Monday 7 August, with works being completed four days ahead of schedule.
Cheshire East Highways said: "We're pleased to announce that works on Flag lane are complete ahead of schedule and the road is now reopen.
"Thank you for your patience during this scheme."
Cheshire East is currently in the process of working on traffic signal upgrades for Nantwich Road and the surrounding junctions.
Works started on Monday 31 July, on South Street, which will reopen on Saturday 5 August.
Roadworks will last for approximately five weeks. with South Street/Mill Street, Gresty Road and Edleston Road junctions also to be worked on.
