A major bakery chain is set to relocate to a bigger Crewe town centre unit this winter, with new indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Greggs, Market Street, will be moving to 12 Victoria Street, formerly occupied by The Works and temporarily taken on by CreweCreates Artspace.

Opening this November, the new Greggs shop will have public toilets and a bigger range of food and drink.

Iced coffee will also be served at the new unit, with new made-to-order options available.

Greggs will close its Market Street shop in November, reopening the new store simultaneously.

Crewe Nub News understands CreweCreates will be moving inside the former Burton Menswear/Dorothy Perkins unit at 77-83 Market Street this October.

Earlier this summer, the 7,205 sq ft building was sold at auction to a local businessman for an undisclosed fee.

Standing empty since August 2021, it is understood all floors of the corner building will be utilised.

Earlier this year, Crewe Creates said: "Opening a 'pop-up' artspace in Crewe town centre has been an amazing experience for us.

"It has provided us with a fixed space to test out our concept with relatively low risk in a flexible environment.

"The support from the Repurposing Our High Street project has been critical in facilitating the relationships with the landlord while enabling us to make improvements to the space with zero risk."

Crewe Nub News has contacted Greggs and CreweCreates for comment on the developments.
