A lorry has broken down on a busy stretch of road adjoining the A500 Shavington Bypass - near to Crewe.

The Haslington Haulage Ltd vehicle broke down on the A531 Newcastle Road earlier today - the first roundabout after getting off the M6

Another lorry is assisting with the recovery of the vehicle at the scene - close to Wychwood Park.

Cheshire Constabulary told nub News: "Police were informed of a broken down lorry on the A500 Weston just off the roundabout headed towards Nantwich.

"The driver has arranged for it to be recovered."

The A531 runs from Madeley Heath in Staffordshire to join the A500 close to Weston, near Crewe.

It is broken down approximately four miles from Crewe town centre.

The A531 Newcastle Road was closed in 2019 due to a large sinkhole that opened up in the road.
