A South Cheshire man has opened his first ever comics and collectibles shop within an 'absolutely fantastic' Crewe venue - following an 'overwhelming positive' trial.

Gumshoe Comics & Collectibles, Crewe Market Hall, opened on Wednesday 29 March - with an official launch taking place on Saturday 8 April.

The new Crewe town centre shop is owned by Nantwich resident, Peter Bruder - who has lived in South Cheshire his whole life.

"I trialled this stall here for a few weekends and the response was overwhelmingly positive, said Mr Bruder.

Gumshoe Comics & Collectibles sells items 'all things geek,' such as Funko Pops, generic comics, rarer comics, signed items and gaming products.

The new Crewe store will mainly be run by Mr Bruder - also being supported by his parents.

Mr Bruder told Nub News: "I used to go around to the comic cons pre-pandemic and sell stock there 10 to 12 times per year.

"This was great, I loved it, but I wanted my own permanent shop.

"For the past 18 months I have been looking for a location for my own shop and eventually got in touch with Crewe Market Hall.

"Following the trials, I decided to take the plunge to open permanently, signed the lease and here we are. Hopefully this will go from strength-to-strength.

"This isn't just a comic book shop - it's all things geek and has a focus on gaming."

Gumshoe Comics & Collectibles is keen to create a gaming environment within Crewe Market Hall.

The new stall is set to start gaming nights throughout the week - with the first event starting on April 15.

Mr Bruder said: "We have our first Dungeons and Dragons game on Saturday 15 April - which is now fully signed up for.

"This is a trial and error period at first but we will also have things like a Pokémon night and a Magic The Gathering Night - whatever we find works the best for people.

"We have a gaming table and will be encouraging market hall visitors to get involved and maybe try something they've never played before.

"We will be renting board-games to visitors from our extensive game library for a small price.

"Whether people are enjoying food or a pint - they can come and choose a game, play it among themselves and bring it back when they're finished.

"These events aren't solely aimed at kids, they're for everybody. I am 38 and love it.

After 18 months of searching for the right venue, the shop owner found this venue to be the best.

Mr Bruder added: "Crewe Market Hall is absolutely fantastic. This venue really appealed to me when I was thinking of where to open this store.

"I looked at other shops in Crewe. This location is the one that has a real vibe about it.

"It attracts so many types of people, it's a real meeting point and it channels so many people into Crewe.

Gumshoe Comics & Collectibles is currently open 9:30am to 6pm (Wednesday to Sunday) (Ryan Parker).

"The staff and traders here at Crewe Market Hall are putting so much effort in to putting events on getting people back into the town centre again."
