Local drink driver charged after colliding with parked cars in Crewe

A local drink driver has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis in police custody, after colliding with parked cars in Crewe.

On Sunday 31 March, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on Broad Street, close to Crosskeys Roundabout.

At around 12pm, officers arrived at the scene, discovering a vehicle had crashed into two parked cars.

Simon Berry blew almost three times the legal drink driving limit (Debbie Baillie).

A male driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, after providing a roadside breath sample of 100, almost three times the legal limit.

Simon Berry, 47, from Crewe, has since been charged after failing to provide a specimen for analysis in custody.

The local man has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court this month, with his vehicle seized by police.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At roughly midday on Sunday 31 March, we received reports of a vehicle that had crashed into parked vehicles on Broad Street.

"Crewe Response Team attended the incident, and a male driver was located and detained.

"He provided a roadside breath sample of 100ug (legal limit is 35ug), and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Simon Berry is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court this April (Cheshire Police).

"Simon Berry, 47, from Crewe, has been charged after failing to provide a specimen for analysis in custody.

"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court this April, and his vehicle has been seized by police."
