Licence-less car thief arrested on suspicion of drug driving following Crewe collision

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, drug driving and driving without a licence and insurance, following a collision in Crewe.
On Wednesday 12 March, Cheshire Police were alerted to an incident on Wistaston Green Road, Wistaston.
Around 10.55am, a Volkswagen Golf and a Renault van collided with one another, with the Volkswagen driver attempting to flee the scene.

The 20-year-old man was restrained by a member of the public and handed over to police when patrols arrived.
He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and drug driving.
He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. No serious injuries were reported.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 10.55am on Wednesday 12 March, police were called to reports of a collision on Wistaston Green Road.
"The collision involved two vehicles, a Volswagen Golf and a Renault van.
"The driver of the Golf, a 20-year-old man, attempted to flee the scene but was restrained by a member of the public.

"He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and drug driving.
"He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries."
