League Two leaders sign Championship defender on season-long loan

Crewe Alexandra have completed a loan deal for a Championship side's promising defender, becoming the club's eighth summer signing.
James Golding has joined Crewe from Oxford United, after being spotted watching The Alex's impressive 2-0 victory at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday (August 9).
The central defender, who stands at 6'3" has penned a season-long deal with Lee Bell's side, after an agreement was reached with The U's.
Golding, who has enjoyed previous loans at Banbury and Dartford and most recently with Maidenhead and Southend, netted five times in 21 appearances for the National League sides in 2024/25.

The Sutton-born defender started out with AFC Wimbledon's academy before joining Oxford in 2020.
Golding has played nine times for the U's and represented Republic of Ireland Under-19s on four occasions.
The 21-year-old joins Josh March, Phil Croker, Reece Hutchinson, Sam Waller, Tommi O'Reilly, Emre Tezgel and Louis Moult in joining EFL League two's current leaders.
A Crewe spokesperson said: "Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome James and wish him luck for the future."
