A large new supermarket offering "everything" has opened its doors in a run-down area of Crewe - aiming to sell items for "all communities."
Lidos Extra, Edleston Road, officially launched at 7am on Wednesday 14 June - employing 10 members of staff.
The large supermarket is located inside the former Sainsbury's Local store - which permanently closed down on March 5, 2022.
"We saw a big opportunity here when Sainsbury's closed down last year - creating lots of jobs and being a provider for the local community," said director, Alan Dilshad.
Lidos Extra sells food and drink items from a variety of countries - including the UK, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Middle East.
The shop finally opened following three months of works - with both Edleston Road and Brooklyn Street entrances accessible to the public.
Mr Dilshad told Nub News: "I am from the Midlands but saw this place online. We thought it was a good size unit, with a big car park - in quite a busy area of town.
"We did our research about this area of Crewe from the council. We sell food and drink representing everyone from the local community.
"Whether you want British, Polish, Middle Eastern, Romanian, Bulgarian or Slovakian items - we base our stock around the people who live in this area.
"People should try us out, because our prices are fair and we have a car park right outside.
"This store is something totally different to other shops in the town."
Lidos Extra is looking to employ four more full-time staff - potentiality altering its opening hours once trade has settled down.
The new Crewe supermarket also has a customer car park, with a 90-minute maximum stay.
Mr Dilshad hopes his investment will help the local area - encouraging more development.
The director added: "We are looking to empty four more full-time staff from any community. We welcome anyone to come and apply.
"There isn't much development happening in this area of Crewe right now. It is quite run-down.
"Lidos Extra has come to give local residents something different and to bring development and jobs to the area.
"It is exciting for me to say we are now open. Hopefully more things will follow us into this area of town."
Lidos Extra is currently open from 7am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday.
