A Large Crewe town centre council building is currently undergoing a major redevelopment - with "energy efficient" improvement works taking place.

Cheshire East Council's Delamere House, Delamere Street, is currently being refurbished - as part of a carbon neutral by 2025 target.

The eight-storey Crewe building improvement works aim to make "significant energy savings" for the council.

Cheshire East have confirmed new windows have been installed - with the incorporation of solar glazing where possible.

The installation of an air source heat pump will be completed soon - reducing the building's carbon footprint.

Delamere Houses' internal heating system will also be replaced this summer.

In March, Cheshire East Council's head of estates, Andy Kehoe, told Nub News: "These works are a further commitment to the work the council is doing to be carbon neutral by 2025.

"The air source heat pumps will take the main heating load of the building and will significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

"We have almost completed the wider programme of installing air source heat pumps across our buildings and these other programmed works will also see an increased level of energy efficiency."

The works taking place at Delamere House are part of a wider council programme of decarbonising its buildings.

This includes libraries, depots, leisure centres, day centres and car parks.
