Knife-wielding London man intercepted on train after raiding Crewe phone shop

Cheshire Police investigating an armed robbery at a phone shop in Crewe have charged a man from London in connection with the incident.

Steven Zehi was arrested on Friday 27 June after entering Phone Village, Market Street, armed with a knife, threatening staff, before fleeing with the stolen items.

The 27-year-old was soon identified leaving on a train from Crewe to London, with British Transport Police intercepting the train at Coventry.

Steven Zehi, 27, has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday 30 June (Wiki Commons).

When arrested by officers, Zehi, of Great Amwell Lane, Hornsey, was still in possession of the knife and stolen items.

Zehi was already wanted for robbery and burglary offences in London, from Wednesday 30 April and Tuesday 10 June of this year.

The man has since been charged with three counts of robbery, two counts of possessing a knife in a public place, criminal damage, and resisting arrest.

One count of robbery and one count of possessing a knife in a public place relate to the incident in Crewe on Friday 27 June.

Zehi has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday 30 June.
