A South Cheshire TV and film star was spotted filming for a new programme close to Crewe - pulling a pint with a local pub landlord.

Ben Miller visited The Black Lion, Welsh Row, Nantwich on Sunday (October 16) - filming for a new TV series.

The English actor and comedian was born in London and grew up in Nantwich - attending Malbank High School and Sixth Form College.

Ben Miller has starred alongside Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English (2003) and Johnny English Strikes Again (2018) - playing Angus Bough (Wikipedia).

Miller rose to fame as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller.

The 56-year-old is well-known for playing the lead role of DI Richard Poole in BBC crime drama, Death in Paradise.

Miller has also starred alongside Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English (2003) and Johnny English Strikes Again (2018) - playing Angus Bough.

The Black Lion announced Miller's visit to the pub on social media.

An announcement read: "Celebrity visit. Recognise this famous face?

"We welcomed TV star Ben Miller and his film crew for lunch.

"Death in Paradise actor Ben, originally from Nantwich, was filming for a new programme featuring the town and places of interest, including The Black Lion.

"He had fun pulling a pint with our landlord Darren."

This year, Miller starred in The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer.

The former Nantwich school pupil also recently filmed Channel 4 drama, Suspect.
