Investigation launched after fire crews put out Crewe flat blaze

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice in the space of an hour in Crewe yesterday afternoon.

In the first incident they put out a small fire in an unoccupied ground-floor flat in Union Street.

Two fire crews attended after being called out at 3.30pm by a member of the public, who had gained access to the property.

Then one engine was sent out to a property in North Street after a smoke alarm went off at 4.30pm.

The officers discovered the source of smoke was from burnt food and after removing the debri used a large fan to disperse the smoke.

Of the first incident A Cheshire Fire and rescue Service spokesman said: "An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway."
