Investigation after car torched in 1am Crewe arson attack

An investigation is underway after fire crews tackled a car blaze in the middle of the night on a Crewe housing estate with the incident believed to be an act of arson.

On Friday 10 October, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Coppenhall Heyes, off Victoria Avenue.

Around 12.49am, one fire engine from Crewe arrived at the scene, discovering a car well-alight.

Crewe firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames, using a thermal imaging camera to monitor for hotspots.

No one was injured in the Crewe car blaze, with no arrests yet made (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, Cheshire Police were informed.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 1.09am on Friday 10 October, police received a report that a car had been deliberately set on fire at an address on Coppenhall Heyes, Crewe.

"Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police 101 or via the website, quoting IML 2191997.

"Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
