A Crewe school has had plans approved to benefit pupils with special educational needs.

Wistaston Academy, of Moreton Road, had proposals given the green light via Cheshire East Council yesterday.

It concerned the "construction of a stand alone single storey teaching block for children with special educational needs."

This new teaching area for SEND pupils will also come with a new enclosed play area.

To benefit staff and parents, this will also come with nine additional parking spaces. The new parking spaces will be located north of the existing car park.

A planning document cites the extension could create ten extra jobs.

It reads "There are 472 pupils and 8 pupils have special educational needs, and the extension will cater for an additional 16 pupils. There are 62 FTE staff at the school and this would increase to 72."

The plans will also see improved fire safety in their nursery block.

Construction shall start shortly, and you can read about the full plans HERE.
