Hough housing plans delayed while Natural Gas consulted on pipeline

An application for new homes in Hough was withdrawn from the planning agenda, while council officers wait for expert advice about a gas pipeline running close to the site.
The proposal was to bulldoze buildings on a parcel of land at a former kennels at Birchwood House on Birch Lane to make way for eight homes.
The scheme would also include a contribution of £303,743 towards the provision of three off-site affordable homes.
The published report due to go to Wednesday's (3 June) southern planning committee meeting had recommended the application be approved.
Committee chair Joy Bratherton asked why it had been withdrawn from the agenda.
Planning officer Gareth Taylerson said: "It's located close to a gas pipeline, so we've consulted Natural Gas.
"The applicants have submitted their own assessment, but it hasn't come in on time, so clearly, we don't feel comfortable sending it to members, or even can we make a recommendation, not knowing their thoughts on the matter.
"So, it's likely to come back to the next committee, once Natural Gas have either retained their objection or withdrawn the objection."
