The pub's natural low-level lighting has been brightened up with warm atmospheric lighting, creating relaxing spaces to enjoy a drink or bite to eat.

Most of the furniture is new to the Hawk, but has been reclaimed from elsewhere and reupholstered, with a few statement pieces remaining after the makeover.

The Haslington venue has re-opened with a new food menu featuring British pub classics, such as steak and ale pie and sausage and mash.

The Robinsons in-house designer who led the building's refurbishment said: "There is so much history and charm at the Hawk Inn.

"During the renovation, we found some of this history buried in its walls.

"One of the most interesting things we found was a newspaper article dating back to 1888.

"It was in pieces, but I'm going to attempt to find a way to restore it.

"The main objective for the refurbishment was to form a warmer feel to the pub and to create an inviting and homely welcome.

"It has been a great pub to work on, where the makeover evolved as we uncovered history during our work."

The refurbishment has helped to form a lighter and cosier environment, still maintaining the existing charm and character of the pub.
