Here's what Crewe's Cheshire East councillors claimed in expenses in 2019-20

CHESHIRE East Council has revealed what its councillors claimed during 2019/20.

Members of the authority received a basic allowance of £12,351 for a full year's service on the authority but were able to claim extra expenses for travel and subsistence, while special responsibility allowances for those holding portfolios and leadership duties swelled their claims.

Crewe North councillor Jill Rhodes, Portfolio Holder for Public Health and Corporate Services, topped the table of Crewe town councillors claiming £24,656.

Former Crewe and Nantwich MP Laura Smith claimed the least for the 2019/20 council year (£1,136) after only being elected to Cheshire East in February of this year.

Wybunbury councillor and the council's Conservative opposition leader Janet Clowes claimed £20,915.

Haslington councillor Steven Edgar, who served as Deputy Mayor in 2019/20, claimed £1,573 in travel expenses in his total claim of £15,240.

Council leader, Sandbach Heath and East representative, Sam Corcoran claimed £39,076, including £25,475 special responsibility allowance and £1,250 travel expenses.

All amounts paid include basic allowance, special responsibility allowances, dependants carers' allowance, travel and subsistence and co-optees' allowance for the period April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020; see below.
