Growing retailer eyes up move to Crewe shopping centre
A growing furniture outlet is eying up a move to Crewe town centre, with the chain expected to make a decision next week.
Joseph James Furniture Outlet looked the the former Wilko unit, The Market Shopping Centre, earlier this September.
The Manchester-based business, which began in 2019, is operated by Joseph Shenton and James Pullen.
Joseph James sells a large variety of branded furniture at discounted rates, including sofas, armchairs, beds and mattresses and dining tables and chairs,
Following the success of its Stretford location, Joseph James expanded to Stockport in February, opening in the former Debenham's unit.
Now, the furniture shop is keen on Crewe, with discussions taking place with The Market Shopping Centre for its third store.
Crewe's Wilko store shut its doors for the final time after 21 years in September 2023, one of 408 branches to permanently close.
The Market Shopping Centre told Nub News Joseph James will make a decision on the unit next week (the week commencing September 16).
If Joseph James agrees a deal on the unit, the furniture outlet has confirmed it would open up the old Wilko entrance from Lyceum Square.
Crewe Nub News has contacted Joseph James for comment.
