IT looks like Crewe Town Jaguars and Sandbach Curshaws will be vying for the Crewe and District League title, Covid-19 permitting of course.

Curshaws beat the Jaguars 2-0 in the last round of fixtures to open up a three-point lead and they also have played a game less than their nearest rivals.

The league resumed after the second lockdown and three Saturdays of games were completed before the Christmas break.

The pause in action didn't change the form book and Sandbach Curshaws returned with a resounding 9-3 win over Mary Dendy.

Darren Bailey, Sam Critchley and Ryan Simmons netted doubles and Fraser Keena, Cameron Mitchell and Chris Shaw were also on the scoresheet with Mary Dendy's goals coming from James Curbishley, Michael Gilligan and Bjorn Hughes.

Elworth Park Rangers hit five without reply against Sandbach Town helped by James Mason's hat-trick. Connor Bird and Lenny Beardmore also scored.

Crewe Town Jaguars thumped their second team, Crewe Town Reserves, with Ryan Tompkinson (2) and Adam Grant (2), Nathan Schofield, Rhys Holt and Joshua Cooke running up a 7-0 scoreline.

The Jaguars followed that success up with a 4-1 win over Sandbach Town.

Mary Dendy beat Crewe Town Reserves 5-2 with goals from Liam Blackhurst, Kyran Davies, Michael Gilligan, Andrew Pennington and Matty Wakefield.

Crewe Town Reserves are finding life tough in the league and remain without a win from their six games to date, also going down to a narrow defeat (3-4) at the hands of Sandbach Town for whom Lee Wakefield and Jon Carney netted doubles.

It was all set up for the table-topping clash and it was goals from Darren Bailey and Ryan Simmons that clinched victory for Sandbach Curshaws.
