GCSE Results: Crewe Engineering and Design college 'thrilled' with scores

Students and staff at Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, part of The Learning Partnership, are celebrating after receiving their "brilliant" GCSE results.  

A UTC spokesperson told Nub News: "The UTC is pleased to announce its best Key Stage four results in five years.

"The school is thrilled by students brilliant performance this year, engineering students have achieved incredibly well, increasing the pass rate by 40 per cent.

"English students' pass rate has improved 21 per cent, and science and maths students have exceeded expectations, increasing the pass rate by 22 per cent and 13 per cent respectively.

"These fantastic results are a testament to students' hard work throughout the year, and their perseverance, overcoming significant challenges to their learning during the pandemic. 

"The whole school community is incredibly proud of its students, and a record number are staying on at the UTC to start their T Level in Engineering this September."

While all students have done well, there have been some impressive individual performances at UTC. These include:

  • Grazyna Fortuna who secured excellent grades in all her subjects including achieving three Level 2 Distinctions in Engineering Manufacture, Programmable Systems and ICT. 
  • Lexie MacDonald who achieved excellent grades all her subjects including a Level 2 Distinction in Engineering Manufacture and a grade 8 in Combined Science.
  • Marcin Bromboszcz who achieved excellent grades all his subjects including a Level 2 Distinction in Engineering Manufacture and a grade 88 in Combined Science.
  • Summer Boon who secured excellent grades in all her subjects including achieving two Level 2 Distinctions in Engineering Manufacture and ICT and a grade 87 in Combined Science.

Principal of Crewe UTC, Will Chitty, told Nub News: "All our students have worked incredibly hard to secure the best set of GCSE outcomes the college has seen since the pandemic.

"We are especially proud of the work our students have done with our industry partners during their courses.

"These experiences have prepared them perfectly for key stage five and we are very excited to welcome back a record number of students to our T Level course this September."
